Frequently Asked Questions

WHERE ARE YOUR GLASSES MADE?

We are a South African brand we make some models right here in South Africa we also produce in Italy China & Britain always lovingly handcrafted.

WHAT QUALITY TESTS DO YOU MAKE ON YOUR PRODUCTS?

Pedro Eyewear introduced a wide range of internal performance tests which are far more severe than the law requirements to ensure that the products can withstand any challenges of daily life, including extreme environmental conditions. The products are made from ACETATE lovingly handcrafted, which is a vivid material like soft amber and not plastic.

PROCESSING THE RAW BAR

The acetate processing starts with a bar that is cut and shaped to form semi-finished temples and frames. Then, a metal core is inserted into the temples to make them more rigid and resistant and hinges are mounted to connect front and temples.

ARE YOUR MATERIALS ALLERGY TESTED?

All the frames produced by Pedro eyewear are compliant to European Directives 93/42, 89/686 and to the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemical) regulation about the presence of chrome and nickel materials. European Directives about optical frames and sunglasses refer to specific European standards concerning nickel release, which foresee a preliminary test to simulate the aging and the consumption of the components directly in contact with users' skin and a further analysis of the nickel released by the same components.

HOW DO SUN LENSES PROTECT MY EYES?

All Pedro sunglasses feature lenses with very high UV (ultraviolet rays) protection, this means that the lens protects your eyes from UVA (“aging” damage) and UVB (“burning” damage) rays up to 400 nanometers. Ultraviolet radiation is very harmful to our eyes, so protection on your eyewear is very important. The letter indicates the type of filter (N=normal, P=polarized, F=photochromatic). For further details, please read the information note included in the packaging of your sunglasses, which also indicates the right use of your sunglasses depending on the lenses filter

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF A POLARIZED LENS?

Polarized lenses block the blinding glare that bounces off horizontal surfaces. The benefits are sharper vision, contrast enhancement and a greater comfort for your eye.

WHAT DOES “PHOTOCHROMATIC” MEAN?

Photochromatic lenses darken with UV exposure, adjusting to a variety of light conditions
